Contributing to the collective good!
Mírian Lima came to the July edition of PubhD Coimbra to talk to us about her doctoral project “Between prompts and principles: ethics and integrity in the age of generative AI.” Mírian is a student in the PhD in Information Sciences and conducts her research at CEIS 20 - Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century.
Why did you decide to take part in PubhD Coimbra?
I decided to come because I think science communication is very important, in all kinds of places and to all kinds of audiences. So, I find the idea of communicating science, and in a bar no less, really interesting! It’s also a moment of relaxation beyond academia.
How was your experience at this edition of PubhD Coimbra?
I loved it! First, because I love talking about my research, and second, because I believe that every time I can contribute to someone’s reflection, I’m not only adding to my own knowledge (since the one teaching is also learning) but also contributing to the common good.
Would you recommend other colleagues to participate?
Yes, I think it’s really important for everyone to join this initiative, because besides practicing your public speaking, you always end up talking to a very diverse audience, who may have completely “out-of-the-box” perspectives.
