Housed by the Institut de France, the Fondation Michel Serres aims to promote research and publications on the work of French philosopher Michel Serres as well as actions implementing his thinking.

The Michel Serres Prize for Interdisciplinary Theses, organised by the Foundation, aims to annually reward a doctoral thesis that draws on at least one discipline from the exact sciences, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science or life sciences, and at least one discipline from the humanities and social sciences, including but not limited to philosophy, sociology, anthropology, literature, history or geography.

Applications are open to candidates of any nationality who have obtained a doctoral degree.

The submitted thesis must have been defended within the three years preceding the application deadline. Theses written in both English and French will be accepted, however those written in English must be submitted with a translated extract in French.

The prize consists of one cash award of €3,000. However, the Foundation will also highlight the theses of up to eight other candidates who were not selected as winners.

Applications must be submitted before the deadline of 1 February 2026.
