About BEB Day

BEB Day is back!

The 16th edition of the PDBEB symposium organized by the Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) students, from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, University of Coimbra, will take place on the 18th and 19th of January, 2022.

Under the theme “The Overview Effect”, this edition aims at gathering a multidisciplinary panel, composed by national and international reputed speakers, to address current global issues in a dynamic and interdisciplinary perspective, with special focus on the effects of climate change on health. A roundtable with experts from different fields such as economy, psychology, sociology, law, physics, ecology, biotechnology and biomedicine, will discuss the role of science in finding new strategies to minimize the impact of climate change and pollution in our health and lifestyle, aiming at a sustainable future for all.

Since it is crucial to hear the opinion of next generation researchers, the second day of this event will be dedicated to PhD students from University of Coimbra, focusing on current and former PDBEB students, which will present and discuss their research projects and professional experiences. This will grant excellent opportunities to share the ongoing research in the universe of the doctoral programmes at the University of Coimbra, ending with the Best Poster and Pitch Awards sponsored by Bluepharma and Laborders, respectively. For a more informal and spontaneous moment of mingling, there will be a social event, with musical moments provided by the String Quartet of the Tuna Académica from the University of Coimbra.
