Course Objectives
The PIUDSS aims to develop the capacity to critically analyse social problems, policies and practices, contributing to the country's social and economic development, as well as enhancing the production of scientific knowledge in any of the fields of intervention of Social Security and Social Policy:
Critical reflection on SS research and fostering skills in scientific analysis of the social, political and professional issues that underlie its field(s) of intervention;
The development/consolidation of SS scientific research, scientific progress and the social relevance of the associated HEIs through scientific research networks and research appropriate to the needs of the communities and requirements of excellence;
The training of highly specialised staff with in-depth skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of social intervention methodologies/processes and social policies.
Career opportunities
Holders of the PhD in Social Work will have preferential access to academic careers, scientific research, management and coordination positions, planning and evaluation of public and social policies and public or private organisations.
