Doctorate in Education Sciences

The Doctorate in Educational Sciences is designed to meet the demands of professionals who wish to deepen their scientific and professional skills in the field of Educational Sciences through qualified training, based on research models, methodologies and techniques, which enables doctoral students to produce new knowledge in the various fields of Educational Sciences.

Specialization Areas

DURATION AND TRAINING MODALITIES

The Doctorate in Educational Sciences lasts 3 years, corresponding to 180 ECTS, divided as follows:

1st year

. Research Methods and Data Analysis - 15 ECTS

. Seminar on Furthering Scientific Thinking in Educational Sciences - 15 ECTS

. Follow-up Seminar of Thesis Plan - 30 ECTS

2nd year

Development of the Thesis in the specialization area - 60 ECTS

3nd year

Development of the Thesis in the specialization area - 60 ECTS

Admition Requirements:

1 — Application to the study cycle conducive to the title of doctor of Education Sciences is open to those who:

a) Hold a master’s degree or legal equivalent;

b) Hold a licentiate degree, and possess a particularly relevant school or scientific curriculum that is acknowledged by the Scientific Council of the FPCE-UC as evidence of ability to undertake this study cycle;

c) Possess a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is acknowledged by the Scientific Council of the FPCE-UC as evidence of ability to undertake this study cycle.

2 – Acknowledgement mentioned in sections b) and c) of the previous item only allows access to the cycle of studies conducive to the title of doctor, and does not bestow on its holder an equivalence to a licentiate or master degree from the UC, or in any way acknowledge it.
