Andre Obenaus, Ph.D. will deliver the seminar "The vascular intersection between traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer's Disease". The session will take place on 11 March at 12pm in room 75 of subunit 3 (floor -1) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (Polo III).

The neuronal and inflammatory consequences of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD) have been well documented, but how the vasculature contributes to these disease states is relatively unknown. There is a growing acknowledgement that TBI can progress towards AD and related dementias while TBI in AD subjects is thought to exacerbate disease progression. We are currently exploring morphological and functional changes in the cerebrovasculature to identify potential overlapping mechanisms to guide new avenues of research and ultimately therapeutic interventions.

Andre Obenaus, Ph.D is a professor at the Division of Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine at the University of California Riverside in California.
