N.B. Each monographic curricular unit requires a minimum of 4 students to run.
Optional Curricular Units
(A minimum knowledge of Portuguese is required)
Each edition provides classes in optional curricular units (two hours per week) such as Geography of Portugal, Portuguese Art or Literatures in the Portuguese Language.
Admission Requirements
Students must be over 16 to be eligible for the course. Access to the different levels will depend on the student’s Portuguese knowledge.
Attendance
To obtain the final diploma and the attendance certificate, or any other certificate, students must achieve at least 75% attendance in each curricular unit.
Assessment
All compulsory curricular units include a final exam, which consists of a compulsory written and/or oral assessment conducted by the respective teacher. The assessment of the monographic curricular units will consist of, at least, one paper, which shall be presented and discussed in class.
A program of cultural activities will be organised and announced shortly.
Student card holders will have access to university facilities such as canteens, laundry, bars, sports grounds, libraries and university medical services (health insurance in the country of origin is required).

Pre-enrolment
For an efficient programming of the Summer Course, all applicants must pre-enrol until 7 June 2026. To do so, the pre-enrollment form online form must be submitted.

Registration fee – 20 euros
Tuition fee – 600 euros
Student medical insurance – included in the course fee
Total: 620 euros

Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Diploma and certificates
The course fee includes the final Diploma (which requires approval in all curricular units of the level attended by the student). Any other certification documents are subject to the payment of the applicable fees.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra does not offer scholarships.
Scholarship applications to attend the Summer Course must be submitted to Portuguese Lectureships, at universities where they exist, or directly to the Camões Institute.
