This morning we had the visit of Manuel de Assunção Diniz, a key figure in Portuguese entomology known for his work on studying and collecting bees in Portugal from the 1960s to the 1990s, with his collection housed at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra and currently under study.
This time, we shared a bit of his history linked to botany and the University of Coimbra Herbarium. With the assistance of Filipe Covelo, we revisited fabulous plant illustrations created by Manuel Assunção Diniz and his daughter, Margarida Lameiras, between the 1950s and 1970s!
It was also a moment of sharing with several members of the Department of Life Sciences (DCV), including Jorge Paiva, Teresa Gonçalves, João Farminhão, and António Gouveia.
There was also time to visit the bee collection at the FLOWer lab. It was a pleasure to welcome him back.
