On October 14th, the opening session of the MBA for Executives will take place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC). The event will feature speeches by the Director of FEUC, Álvaro Garrido, the Course Coordinator, Pedro Torres, and the President of the MBA Club, Hugo Matos. The highlight of the session is the conference entitled “The importance of decentralization and regionalization for territorial cohesion”, given by Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion.

Ana Abrunhosa has a degree, master's and doctorate from FEUC. A professor at FEUC since 1995, her research focuses on the themes of regional development economics, an area of study that has a strong tradition at FEUC, as well as economics and innovation management. She taught at the MBA, where she promoted several seminars with the presence of public and private entities related to innovation, contributing to the connection of the course to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. She was President of the Center's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRC) from May 2014 to October 2019.

The Executive MBA has a strong practical component and combines unique experience at a university with more than 700 years of academic excellence with a future-oriented curriculum of leadership in the global economy, based on a cooperative and inspiring community. The course is aimed at professionals who, regardless of their basic training, aim to develop management skills and acquire top training that allows them to progress as leaders in their areas of activity. The FEUC MBA pays special attention to issues that affect the activity of organizations, but which also constitute opportunities, such as sustainability and digital transformation. This broadens the perspective of the participants in relation to the context in which they carry out their activities. In this sense, the theme of the opening session has special relevance. Given that the topic proposed by Minister Ana Abrunhosa is of great centrality in Portuguese public life and is of particular interest to regional economic development, the conference is open to the general public.

Participants in the Executive MBA have different academic backgrounds and professional experiences, which makes the course unique. In line with previous editions, the average age of the class of 2022/23 is 38 years old. The course thus contributes to lifelong learning, seeking to have an impact on society. The study plan for the next edition of the course further strengthens the connection with companies, with the participation of several organizations. Next year, several seminars and workshops will be held, to be promoted by companies, including Instituto Pedro Nunes, Biocant, Deloitte, EDP and SHL.
