On October 12, at 5:00 pm, the launch of the book The “ILO Chair” at FEUC: talks on the future of work will take place at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC), in the room in the Keynes room. The work is presented by Cristina Rodrigues, researcher at the Instituto de História Contemporânea Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

The session – which will feature the presence and intervention of the Director of FEUC, Álvaro Garrido, and the Director of the Press of the University of Coimbra, Alexandre Dias Pereira – also intervened by Mafalda Troncho (director of the ILO office in Lisbon) and Hermes Augusto Costa ( professor at FEUC, researcher at the Center for Social Studies and organizer of the book).

The book brings together a selection of texts resulting from the first three editions of the “ILO Chair”, which was constituted on the basis of a protocol signed between the University of Coimbra, through FEUC, and the International Labor Organization (ILO), in 2017. Published entirely in English, the work is organized into 4 parts: i) the historical legacy of the ILO and its contribution to decent work; ii) work patterns, jobs and climate challenges; iii) inequalities, work and gender divides; iv) work, digital economy and the right to disconnect.

Each of the 8 chapters – authored by ILO specialists – is commented on by FEUC professors and/or researchers from its main research centers (Centre for Social Studies and Center for Business and Economics Research).

From different disciplinary views, which make up the FEUC community, dialogues are produced with the ILO on the future of work.
