About
Although omnipresent in the academic discourse, inter and transdisciplinarity are today words that express very diverse concepts and practices, which can be considered from multiple perspectives. Hence, the need to rethink the meanings, the practices and the challenges that inter and transdisciplinarity pose.that can be thought under multiple perspectives.

Inter and transdisciplinary approaches are hallmarks of the Centre for Social Studies fo the University of Coimbra (CES-UC), fully assumed in its Statutes and successive strategic plans.

The Presidency of the Scientific Council has therefore taken the initiative to promote a colloquium, which will take place onJanuary 25th, 2022, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, with a view to stimulating the sharing of ideas and a wide-ranging debate on inter/transdisciplinarity, involving the social sciences, the humanities and the relationship between modern science and the knowledge produced by citizens and social movements in all parts of the world. The many and varied experiences of inter and transdisciplinary work that have occurred at CES over time constitute excellent anchors for this reflection. The ultimate purpose of this forum is to lead CES to reflect upon itself regarding this topic, thus contributing to the strengthening of the research and advanced training practices that take place there.
