MASTER'S IN LEGAL AND JUDICIAL SCIENCE

The Master's Degree in Legal and Judicial Science provides all law graduates with a specialisation aimed at both traditional forensic professions and the development of any professional activity in the legal field. The Master's programme thus favours a combination of deepening the knowledge acquired in the 1st Cycle and reflecting on new legal issues, with the objectives of consolidating the legal training essential for the exercise of judicial professions and paving the way for research activity, respectively. At the end of the studies, the graduate should be able to:

• solve concrete cases with legal relevance and high complexity;
• critically appraise case law (international and national, and from any court);
• critically appraise doctrine (national or foreign) on various legal problems;
• compare the solutions of the Portuguese legal system with those proposed by other foreign legal systems;
• carry out research in any area of law;
• practise any legal profession.

3 semesters and 90 ECTS

O Mestrado em Ciências Jurídico-Forenses oferece-te a possibilidade de criares um plano de estudos completamente adequado às tuas necessidades de formação.

Neste mestrado, quem constrói o plano de estudos és tu.
1.º Semestre: Tens uma Unidade Curricular obrigatória que te vai apoiar nos teus trabalhos – Metodologia de Investigação. Adiciona duas Unidades Curriculares da área jurídica e duas da área forense.
2.º Semestre: Escolhe duas Unidades Curriculares da área jurídica e duas da área forense e apresenta o teu Projeto de Dissertação ou de Estágio.
3.º Semestre: Elabora a tua dissertação ou realiza o estágio.

The following are eligible to apply for the Master's programme
a) holders of a Bachelor's degree in Law or legal equivalent;
b) holders of a foreign higher education degree following a 1st cycle of studies in Law organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
c) holders of a foreign higher education degree in Law that the Scientific Board recognises as meeting the objectives of the 'licenciado' degree;
d) in duly justified cases, holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that the Scientific Board recognises as attesting to their ability to complete this cycle of studies.
