Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the birth of Adriano Correia de Oliveira, the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra will inaugurate the “ADRIANO 80 ANOS ” exhibition, promoted by the Adriano Correia de Oliveira Artistic, Cultural and Sports Center. The exhibition will be open until February 25, 2023 and can be visited from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 7 pm.

Adriano Correia de Oliveira's work “is vast, one of the most beautiful, rich and representative of Portuguese 20th century popular music, as it describes the experiences, struggles and aspirations of a people who lived under the dark clouds of fascism and their hope, joy and resistance, while dreaming, resisting and fighting to build a democracy that had its voice in the singers of April”, as underlined in the petition of the Adriano Correia de Oliveira Artistic, Cultural and Sports Center that seeks the classification of Adriano's work, who “sang April like few others and left a legacy like no one else”.

Adriano Correia de Oliveira was born in Porto, on Rua Formosa, on April 9, 1942. In 1959, he enrolled in Law at the University of Coimbra. He was a volleyball player at the AAC. His first EP, dated 1963, was entitled “Fados de Coimbra”, in which he was accompanied by António Portugal and Rui Pato. In 1967, still in Coimbra, he composed Canção com Lágrimas, and then left for Lisbon. Adriano's work is extensive, with his last album being released in 1980.
