A team coordinated by the Geosciences Center carries out detailed mapping of the Penha Garcia Syncline.

A multidisciplinary team of geologists, made up of the researcher from the Sofia Pereira Geosciences Center, Miguel Pires (from the same centre), Jorge Colmenar (IGME, Spain), Ícaro Dias da Silva (IDL, UL) and Tim Young (University of Cardiff), were last September carrying out detailed mapping of the Penha Garcia Syncline, revealing new stratigraphic and paleontological data. The project, suggested by the scientific coordinator of Naturtejo Geopark, Carlos Neto de Carvalho, had the support of the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova.
