Seeking for answers with the Higgs boson

Physics Letters B has published an article with contributions from LIP and UC. Researchers from the ATLAS LHC experiment describe the first search for an anomalous component in the coupling between top quarks and the Higgs boson, in events where the Higgs decays to heavy quarks. A positive result could indicate valuable clues to the asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the Universe. According to Prof. Ricardo Gonçalo, current data are compatible with Standard Model expectations, but are still insufficient for a conclusion. In any case this analysis has opened the way to future discoveries!

With the current precision, results are compatible with the expectations from the Standard Model (SM)
