Plastic bottles (PET) for Alpha and Beta Total, U, Ra-226 and Polonium. Glass vials and lid with aluminum radon coating. In the case of radon samples, if the scintillation cocktail has not been used, no air bubbles can be visible.

Preservation

With the exception of radon samples, all others must be acidified to a pH of betwen 2.5 and 3.

It is advisable, whenever applicable, to preserve the sample(s) at the time of collection.

Upon return to the laboratory, the bags must be closed with aluminum self-adhesive tape.

Volume

Suitable for analyzes to be carried out for all required parameters. In general, 3L for gross alpha and beta, U-238, U-234, Ra-226 and Po-210. In the case of radon, the minimum amount is 20 ml.

Transport

The temperature of the sample on arrival at the laboratory does not exceed the original temperature of the sample: 17 degrees. Store in a dark place and, if necessary, refrigerate the samples.

In the case of samples that may exceed the exemption limits for radioactive material, the conditions for the transport of this type of material (hazardous materials) must be observed.

Ideally, no later than 48 hours after collection.

In the case of the radon test, the recommended period of 2 days, up to a limit of 4 days after collection.

Return of tested items

Unless previously agreed, after completion of the tests requested by the customer, the LRN is not obliged to keep samples in storage. If it is in the interest of the LRN, samples may be kept and used for research purposes. The information generated will be treated with total confidentiality, without any indication of the client and the identifying data associated with each sample. The maximum period for returning the sample corresponds to 15 days after the date of issue of the test report. The return of the sample can be carried out in person at the facilities of the LRN or, alternatively, by sending it upon payment. The customer will be informed whenever the quantity or perishability of the sample makes its return unfeasible.
