Filipe Costa, PhD student at the DCV, points out the need for a universal methodology to assess the amount of mercury in fish and shellfish, in a work published in the journal Marine Pollution Bulletin Marine Pollution Bulletin (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.marpolbul.2022.113736). Measuring the bioaccessibility of mercury (Hg), a toxic heavy metal, in foods present in the Mediterranean diet, was the aim of the study, led by our investigator.
