New article, with international scientific relevance, already accessible online, identifies a new species belonging to the extinct family of conifers Cheirolepidiaceae.

The productive stratigraphic level is probably lower Hauterivian age (~130-133Ma) (Lower Cretaceous) and was obtained from the Santa Susana Formation, near Torres Vedras (Lusitanic Basin).

The new species, Pseudofrenelopsis dinisii, was dedicated to Prof. Pedro A. H. D. Morgado Dinis (Department of Earth Sciences - FCTUC; MARE/ARNET), in recognition of the scientific research he has carried out in the Cretaceous and Cenozoic of Portugal.

The primary author of the article is an External Contributor at Univ. Coimbra (at DCT-UC) and Integrated Researcher at the Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences (MARE) & Associated Laboratory ARNET.
