Call for PhD studentships under the ERC StG FINGER-PT project at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Coimbra

A call is open for a PhD scholarship entitled ‘Tracing subduction-related metamorphism using detrital minerals in modern sediments’, with the scientific supervision of Inês Pereira and Pedro Dinis (DCT - UC). For this project, candidates with knowledge of sedimentology and geochemistry will be valued, namely on methodologies such as mineral separation and identification of heavy minerals and the use of instruments such as electron microscopy, electron microprobe and laser ablation mass spectrometry.
To be admitted, candidates must have a master's degree in Geology/Geosciences/Earth Sciences and be enrolled in a PhD programme in Geology at the UC (the latter will only be necessary for the scholarship to be contracted).

Applications will be open from 17 July to 12 August 2024. After an assessment of curricular merit (70%), up to 10 candidates will be selected for an interview (30%).
