22 November, Université Mohamed V (Morocco)

The Seminar he European Union: internal changes and external relations” will be held in North Africa on 22 November, and will discuss the changes facing the old continent, the European Union (EU) and its Member States. The debate will also cover the EU’s international policy and, in particular, its relations with Morocco.

The director of the Centre d'Études et de Recherches en Sciences Sociales, Abdallah Saaf, the scientific coordinator of the CEIS20-UC research group on Europeanism, Atlanticism and Globalisation, Isabel Maria Freitas Valente, and Álvaro Vasconcelos, a researcher at CEIS20-UC, will be welcomed at the Faculté des Sciences Juridiques, Économiques et Sociales of the Université Mohamed V in Morocco.

The structure of the programme will focus on three aspects:

  • The Union in 2019: a new Parliament, a new Commission and a new Presidency, in the context of the management of Brexit;
  • The crisis of European democracies, the rise of identity populism and Euro-Mediterranean relations;
  • Europe in 2019 as seen from Morocco: a changing partner.
