Global Contemporary Challenges

1. Interdisciplinary knowledge heterogeneities

We’ll conduct in-depth studies and collaborative projects into interdisciplinary heterogeneity across fields, institutions, practices, and the specificity of interdisciplinary trajectories. We aim to uncover patterns, methodologies and logics of ID, for creativity, innovation and social accountability.

2. Dynamics of inequalities, political shifts and democracies

We’ll examine the complex interplay of politics, economy, and geopolitical shifts to uncover pathways towards stronger, more inclusive societies. By analysing past authoritarian legacies, societal inequalities and the adaptability of liberal democracies to global trends, we aim to inform policies and interventions for democratic resilience and counter inequalities.

3. Changing environments, sustainability and evolution

Climate change presents substantial challenges to modern societies and disrupts the equilibrium between humans and ecosystems, challenging the sustainability of agriculture and food security, and exacerbating socio-economic disparities. By critically examining the past, we seek to gain insights to inform solutions for the global climatic crisis.

4. Artistic practices, cultural mediation and societal renewal

We'll explore how artistic practices and the cultural sector adapt to digital, ecological, and social-cohesion challenges, impacting artistic production and heritage interpretation. Engaging stakeholders, we'll assess how digital transition and climate crises reshape art's role in individual identity, community expression, and public perception, while also contributing to innovation, health and social cohesion.

5. Digital shifts, ethical and knowledge promoting societies

We’ll study the impacts and potentials of digital and post-digital practices, towards more resilient and liveable societies. We’ll approach digital's role in shaping discourses, cultures, and globalisation, and its influence on education, culture, and entertainment, in order to inform inclusive and equitable digital transformations.
