GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Research lines 1. Health sciences, technologies, and practices The aim of this line of research is the historiographical analysis of topics related to medicine, hygiene and public health, including the chronological and geographical representation of disease, the social and ethical-legal dimensions of health and disease, professional identities and their formation, medicines, and health technologies. This line of research also aims to include mental health and disaster medicine in the context of the current problem of sustainability and economy of resources. 2. History of science and scientific and technological culture The aim of this line of research is to enhance the role of the history of scientific culture and the dissemination of scientific knowledge, placing Portugal in the international arena and highlighting names such as Nobel Prize winner Egas Moniz and other Portuguese scientists working in international laboratories. This line of research also aims to track the so-called Darwin industry on a national scale, in conjunction with international guidelines on the subject. This will be done both in terms of the history of the earth and life sciences, and in terms of social anthropology and geobiological scientific culture.
