Directorate-General for the Arts
The Directorate-General for the Arts is a body within the Ministry of Culture of the Portuguese Republic. Its mission is to coordinate and implement policies to support the arts in Portugal, with the main priority of promoting and valuing artistic creation and ensuring that it is accessible to all.
Artistic Areas
The visual arts (architecture, fine arts, design, photography and new media), the performing arts (circus, dance, music, opera and theatre), street arts and cross-disciplinary arts make up the universe of artistic fields supported by DGARTES.
Support Programmes
There are three types of support programmes: project support, partnership support, and the sustainable support programme, which are tailored to the different positions and expectations of those working in the arts sector.
