Valete vos viatores: travelling through Latin inscriptions across the Roman Empire is the first project from the University of Coimbra to take part in the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme. Developed in partnership with the Università degli Studi di Roma La Spienza, the Université Bordeaux-Montaigne and the Universidad de Navarra (coordinator of the initiative), this was one of the 8 European projects selected from a pool of 115 applications and co-funded with a total of 311,108.07 euros.

By focusing on Roman inscriptions, this project is designed as a journey between Lusitania, on the westernmost point of the Roman Empire, and its capital, Rome. Armando Redentor and Pedro C. Carvalho are in charge of the project at the University of Coimbra. In Portugal, the project will focus on the Roman city that was once the capital of Civitas Igaeditanorum (Idanha-a-Velha).
