António Pedro Pita, researcher at CEIS20, full professor in the Department of Philosophy at FLUC and member of the working group for Coimbra’s application for the title of ECC 2027, has returned from Brazil, where he visited the Museum of the Portuguese Language and held meetings with the team at the Roberto Marinho Foundation and some of the project’s main sponsors: “Following long-distance contacts, I had the opportunity to talk to some of the people in charge of the Museum of the Portuguese Language . We are grateful that this first exploratory idea fitted in well with one of the museum’s structural elements, the Roberto Marinho Foundation.” Segundo António Pedro Pita, the installation in Coimbra will not be a simple replica of what exists in São Paulo: “It is about researching, collecting, organising and bringing information to the European centre. The museum in São Paulo has a certain configuration, which is great, but not entirely transferable. The task is to try to identify these peculiarities in terms of the relationship between the Portuguese language in the European context and the way in which it has been enriched through expansion.”
