Under the initiative 25 April: Towards the Fiftieth Anniversary, promoted by the Advisory Committee of the National Arts Plan (PNA), the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20) is taking on the scientific coordination of this project and is preparing various initiatives to be launched during the month of April 2023.

The first of these initiatives is a travelling exhibition – and its catalogue – that will tour the various school clusters and non-grouped schools in the Coimbra region during the 2023/2024 academic year.

The Centre is also preparing the “CEIS20 Fora de Portas outreach programme, aimed primarily at schools and formal and non-formal education contexts, which will initially aim to disseminate the work carried out by CEIS20 researchers in the context of this initiative. Subsequently, this work will cover other topics, with the aim of promoting and stimulating critical debates on the main challenges of contemporaneity.

As part of the “Conversations in the Community” programme, the Centre is working with civic, recreational and cultural associations to promote informal conversations on topics related to 25 April, such as: memories of the war, emigration, daily life, school and work, the role of the military and women, the first free elections, demonstrations and rallies, etc. These talks will be moderated by researchers from the Centre.

This section already has two activities planned for 20 and 27 April. Find out more here.

The website dedicated to 25 April: Towards the Fiftieth Anniversary will be available soon, with reports on all the developments and news.
