The Network for the Study of Fascisms, Authoritarianisms, Totalitarianisms and Transitions to Democracy (REFAT), of which CEIS20/UC is a founding member, is organising the 14th REFAT Congress: Dictatorships, Colonialisms and Migrations in the Atlantic Area.
In partnership with CEIS20/UC, IHC/NOVA, CEDID/UAB, HISPONA/USC, PUCRS, UFRPE, the University of Bologna and the University of Vigo, the event will be held at the Alberto Vieira Centre for the Study of Atlantic History - Alberto Vieira, in Funchal, Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The aim of this congress is to promote the exchange of knowledge and cooperation between scholars from different countries interested in the historical study of the 20th century and its experiences with dictatorship. This edition will focus on themes such as fascism, authoritarianism, totalitarianism and transitions to democracy. In this edition, guest scholars will discuss issues related to dictatorships, colonialism and migration in the Atlantic region.
