Citizen, alternative, community, collaborative or participatory journalism are just some of the many terms and concepts that have been used to describe a new (or renewed) paradigm for public information. This is a context characterised by decentralisation, the explosion of horizontal communication networks and the diversification of communication flows, leading to new, more dialogical, integrative or cooperative forms of communication and relations with the public. It is also a framework that has been characterised by the increasing intervention of new actors in information production processes.

CEIS20 is organising a meeting to discuss “New alternative models of journalism in the digital environment”. The meeting will be held online on 29 September. Admission is free, but registration is required. For more information about the programme for this event, which brings together researchers and journalists, click here.

The organising committee for this meeting includes CEIS20 researchers João Miranda and Sílvio Correia Santos.

This is the second edition of the meeting, after a first event dedicated to podcasts in 2021, which has now resulted in a publication by the University of Coimbra Press.
