The International Congress “50 Years of the Revolution of 25 April 1974 will take place on 2, 3 and 4 May at the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon. Its aim is to bring together researchers from different fields to discuss the social, political, economic and cultural complexities of the Carnation Revolution. The event will be attended by CEIS20 researchers, Clara Serrano and Sérgio Neto, who are members of the scientific committee.

Topics include social transformations and grassroots political participation; international contexts, especially the processes of anti-colonial struggle and the Cold War; political and social dynamics in their regional diversity; the political economy of revolution; repertoires of struggle and written, visual and musical languages; the role of the revolution and its memory in world history and in democratic Portuguese society; the processes of patrimonialisation, musealisation and preservation of memory; comparative analyses with other revolutions and transitions to democratic systems.
