Associate Professor with Aggregation at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Madeira.

In 2022, he obtained the title of Aggregate Professor in Culture, having obtained his doctorate in Letters, specialising in Humanistic Studies, in 2007 from the University of Madeira, and his degree in Classical Languages and Literatures in 1996 from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.

Since 2021, he has been President of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Madeira.

At the University of Madeira, since 2023, he has coordinated the postgraduate programme in Political Science and International Relations, in partnership with the Portuguese Catholic University.

Since 2018, she has been part of 3 funded projects: "Gynecia: Rodericus a Castro Lusitanus and the ancient medical tradition about gynecology and embryology" (PTDC / FER-HFC / 31187/2017), "Rome sweet Home: (Auto)biographical Tradition and the Shaping of identity" (PTDC / LLT-OUT / 28431/2017), and "Los Progymnasmata en la educación europea (XVI-XVII): de los manuales a la práctica en el aula" (PID2019-103848GB-100).

He is an Integrated Researcher and President of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the University of Coimbra.

His research, teaching and publication activity is in the areas of Classical Cultures and Literatures, in particular the imperial period, ancient biography, political thought and rhetoric.
