Carmen Soares

Full Professor of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.

She obtained the title of Aggregate in Ancient World in 2013, having obtained her doctorate in Greek Literature in 2001, her master's degree in Classical Studies in 1996, and her bachelor in Classical and Portuguese Languages and Literatures in 1993, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.

Director of the PhD in Food Heritage: Cultures and Identities.

Vice-Director of the PhD in Classical Studies.

Chair of the Research Committee of the European Institute for the History and Cultures of Food (Tours, France).

Editor in Chief of the journal DIAITA: Food & Heritage.

Editor of the series on Food Studies of the University of Coimbra Press DIAITA: Scripta&Realia.

Integrated Researcher and Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra.

Her research, teaching, and publishing activities are developed in the areas of Classical Cultures, Literatures and Languages, History of Ancient Greece, and Food History.

Co-coordinator of the Portuguese-Brazilian transnational Network DIAITA: Food Heritage of Lusophony.
