Introduction

Since 2014, the beginning of each month of May has brought us the LVDI CONIMBRIGENSES. This annual celebration of Classical Culture was created following the participation of Classical Studies lecturers and students from the University of Coimbra in the European Grundtvig Project - Ludi Europaei Classici (2013-1-ES1-GRU06-73280 4), funded by the European Commission, and owes its existence to the training provided by the project's parent organisation, the Asociación de Cultura Clásica Ludere et Discere de Sagunto.

With the fundamental aim of disseminating classical culture to primary and secondary school students, LVDI CONIMBRIGENSES consists of whole days (one day or more) dedicated to workshops on various topics (ancient writing, mythology, ceramics, Latin and Greek languages, Roman games, etc.) and classical theatre, with performances of Greek-Latin comedies and tragedies.

The initiative's main partners are the Machado de Castro National Museum, the Ruins of Conímbriga and the Roman Ruins of Bodadela, which are hosting the participating students on their premises.

It's worth highlighting the fact that LVDI CONIMBRIGENSES is an intrinsically collaborative project, since it involves a significant number of undergraduate, master's and doctoral students from FLUC, who receive training in good time from the teachers and students (and alumni) who have been involved in the initiative for a long time, enabling them to be monitors for the younger students during each edition. It is also a project that has to be reinvented year after year, with something new every season.

In addition to the annual LVDI CONIMBRIGENSES, the various Classical Culture Workshops are available to visit primary and secondary schools across the country throughout the school year.
