Religious Diversity in a Globalised World (ReD Global)
Religious Diversity in a Globalised World (ReD Global) is a two-year international master’s programme uniquely focused on the role of religious identities and diversity, and their complex interplay with processes of globalisation. Its mission is:
To provide a stimulating, challenging, and rewarding learning experience to its students, who will develop specialised knowledge and understanding of religious movements, identities, and diversity, as well as how such phenomena interact with wider social, cultural, political, and economic environments, in both historical and contemporary contexts.

The Curriculum - General
ReD Global is a full-time, presential, two-year master’s programme totaling 120 academic credits (ECTS). The programme consists of four semesters. Upon its successful completion, you will receive a double master's degree from the first and second-semester European host institutions. Generally, the structure of the programme is as follows:
- The first semester begins at University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
- For the second semester, you continue either at the Universidad de Córdoba, Spain or Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal. Indicate your preference for the second-semester host with your application to ReD Global.
- For the third semester, you choose between a “Research Track” or a “Professional Track." Students who opt for the Research Track follow courses at one of the ReD Global Partner Institutions, while students who choose the Professional Track do an internship at one of the ReD Global non-Academic Associated Partners, professional organisations.
- The fourth and final semester is mostly spent on the development of a PhD proposal or policy paper. The location for this semester is flexible, to be determined in consultation with your supervisors.
Please note that all students, regardless of scholarship status, must spend a minimum of two semesters in two countries, both of which must be different from the country of residence at the time of enrolment. This means, in the case of Dutch, Spanish, or Portuguese students, that the third semester may not be spent in Groningen, Córdoba, or Coimbra, respectively.
