PORTINGALOISE, MARCHE! 2nd edition

is an itinerant section of Portingaloise - Associação Cultural e Artística, which aims to disseminate Ancient Dance, in a punctual and intensive way, in different regions of the country, visiting different cultural contexts, targeting different audiences, from young people to seniors, amateurs to professionals. Documents, places and testimonies related to the practice of Ancient Dance are the motto for a more informed enjoyment of heritage.

Following the success of the first edition of Portingaloise, marche! at the BNP in April 2023, we propose holding the second edition, once again in the form of an intensive day with two structuring components of the work carried out by the Portingaloise association - formative and investigative - in relation to the work of the BNP.

WORKSHOP MINUETO by Catarina Costa e Silva

10h00-13h00 (FREE with mandatory registration)

Developed at the French court and originally danced in pairs, the minuet obeyed certain rules and choreographic patterns and required mastery of its characteristic step, the pas de menuet. In Portugal, all the choreological sources of the time refer to it, and three of them mention it in particular. This is the case of the treatise Arte de Dançar à Franceza, 1760, by Joseph Thomas Cabreira, which, as well as explaining this step, also contains guidelines for the execution of its main choreographic figures. In this 2nd edition of Portingaloise, marche! we'll have the opportunity to get in touch with this source, learn to dance the minuet and understand the social, cultural and artistic context in which it is found.

Target audience: The workshop is aimed at audiences of different age groups (from 12 years old) and with different levels of dance ability and experience.
