Pedro de Moura e Sá was born in 1907 in Coimbra, where he graduated in Law. He soon dedicated himself to literary criticism, contributing to several newspapers and magazines, and working as a literary critic for Emissora Nacional for ten years.

He published a series of articles in Diário Popular under the general title Espanha Viva, where he deeply analyzed the Castilian mentality and its philosophical coordinates. He published other series of literary articles in various periodicals, such as those dedicated to Flaubert and his Éducation Sentimentale and also an admirable and enlightening preface to Alberto Moravia's novel, Il disprezzo. Throughout his life he gathered one of the largest private libraries in the country dedicated to the Romance languages, particularly literary, historical and philosophical production in contemporary Europe.

His bibliographic collection was donated to the General Library by his family and heirs. Consisting of around 19,000 volumes, particularly rich in the area of ​​philosophy and literature, this library was incorporated into the BGUC on 13 July 1959.
