Calvet de Magalhães Collection
José Calvet de Magalhães was born in 1915 and died in 2004. A career ambassador with a brilliant CV, he was a precursor to Portugal's European option. He was a representative at the OECD, NATO, European Communities and the Holy See, as well as Secretary General of the Ministry of the Foreign Office. Part of his estate was donated to the General Library. There are 775 volumes of monographs and 24 titles of periodical publications.
