Library of Professor Mendes dos Remédios
Joaquim Mendes dos Remédios was born in Nisa in 1867 and died in Montemor-o-Velho in 1932. He was a Portuguese university professor, politician and writer who, among other functions, was rector of the University of Coimbra and Minister of Public Instruction.
He donated his personal papers and library to the General Library. His collection consists of around 13,000 volumes, some old books, 500 titles of periodical publications, as well as archival documents.
